Our company is committed to excellence and we therefore provide world class canine services combined with exceptional customer care.
ADVON has a, state-of-the-art, dog training and breeding kennel facility in Pretoria, South Africa, with sufficient capacity to train and provide a large number of certified working dogs and handlers.
We also have dog kennel facilities in several other countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and USA.
The use of well-trained working dogs is still the most effective method for explosives and contraband detection. ADVON personnel are registered members of the International Working Dog Breeding Association (IWDBA) and the company and personnel are registered with the Private Security Regulatory Authority – PSIRA, to provide canine security services. Our staff members are highly experienced and specialists in their field of operation.

Training Programs
Specialized dog training is carried out in South Africa, at our dog training academy. The facility provides a variety of services such as, the supply of trained dogs and handler training and accreditation. We also offer working dog instructor training. The duration of these courses are 12 weeks. Training can take place at our academy in South Africa or at the client’s premises in their country of choice.
The company has developed a strict adherence to training based on international working dog standards and guidelines. We employ experienced, dedicated, and skilled canine handlers, trainers, and assessors throughout the world, based on client needs and the task at hand. In order to provide this specialist service, all our facilitators, assessors and moderators are accredited by the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA).

Provision of Trained Dogs
Fully trained, certified dogs are available for sale. These include EDD, NDD, MDD, Anti – Rhino Poaching Tracker Dogs, Patrol dogs, Security dogs and REST dogs.
Dog breeds include German Shepherds, Malinois, Border Collie, Labrador, and Springer Spaniel.
Over the years, our company successfully deployed a large number of dogs and facilitated their training, locally and internationally.
We also offer working dog instructor training, which is done over a combined period of 6 months.
Socialization
ADVON has a well-established working dog breeding and socialization program, based on sound scientific dog breeding principles. Dog breeds of choice are GSD, Malinois, Labrador, Springer Spaniel, Border Collie and Dutch Shepherd.
Canine Operational Services
The company always has a pool of well-trained dogs and experienced dog handlers available for rapid deployment.
We offer the following specialized canine operational services:
- Entry Control Point (ECP) searches
- Open Area searches
- Building and Infrastructure sweeps
- Vehicle and Equipment searches
- Baggage and Package searches
- Perimeter sweeps and patrols
- Remote Explosive Scent Tracing (REST)

- Construction and installation of dog kennels
- Assessment and accreditation of working dogs
- Veterinary services
- Air Cargo screening for explosives and narcotics or any other contraband specified by the client
- Searching and securing sport stadia
These services are carried out by using trained dogs and handlers to physically search target areas or using REST technology for larger parcels, trucks, other vehicles, and shipping containers.
The canine unit is responsible for the training, deployment, and maintenance of mine detection – and other working dogs for ADVON external contracts. This unit must also ensure that dog handlers are trained and retrained at regular intervals.
ADVON Client Base
Our personnel have provided canine services to the United States Army in Iraq and Afghanistan, international Oil and Gas companies, international EPC contractors in the Power Generation sector, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and The Lebanese Armed Forces. Our canine program has achieved great success and our canine teams have been responsible for the identification of explosives, explosive making materials and weapons, on numerous occasions.
